The cold draw of the cigar reminds me of a cross between Ramen noodles and barley while in the background there is a hint of molasses. The foot of the cigar has a barnyard like note and some of the molasses like sweetness experienced on the draw. I opted to light the cigar using the cedar found inside the gold tube. Upon first light there are notes of cedar and coffee with a nice spicy kick to it.
As we smoke into the first third of the cigar there is a note that reminds me of figs with a hint of earth. As we work into the first inch, a note of cinnamon is present through the nose.
As we move into the second third of the La Flor Dominicana Oro the flavors become extremely complex with a lot of subtleties. There is a faint note that reminds me of ramen noodle, and the cinnamon develops where is more identifiable even without a retrohale. As we progress past the half way point a note of orange rind works it way into the mix with a developing sweetness.
In the final third of the cigar, the La Flor Dominicana Oro offers up a note similar to that of cayenne pepper with coffee, cedar and earth thrown into the mix. The cigar had a moderate finish, that didn’t linger to long on the palate which is perfect in my book.
