The cold draw of the Byron Petit Poema reminds me of figs and molasses. The sweetness is amazing, and there is a subtle spice as well. The wrapper itself smells of chocolate and the foot has a manure like aroma. After taking a few pulls on the cold draw it’s time to light this baby up.
Due to the 4″ size of the Petit Poemas I will break it into two parts. Once the cigar is lit there is some nice pepper through the nose with notes of toast and coffee. As we smoke the first half of the cigar there are notes of molasses, and coffee. There is a spice through the nose that reminds me of peppercorns.
The second half of the Byron remains consistent with the notes of peppercorns but there is a steak note that makes this come off as a pepper encrusted filet mignon that is cooked medium rare. The notes remain right until I put the cigar out with less than half an inch to go.
